How a round works

  1. Leave home. You never stop moving. Outside your land you leave a trail.
  2. Loop back. Reach your land again and the trail, plus everything inside it, becomes yours.
  3. Don't get cut. If a rival touches your trail before you get home, you're out.
  4. Grow. Every 22 tiles or so adds a building: windmill, tower, house, and so on.

Frequently asked questions

What is HexCrest?

HexCrest is a territory game on islands made of hexagons. You leave your land, draw a trail and loop back to claim everything inside it. Your land then grows a village: towers that shoot rival trails, windmills that earn coins and a castle that rivals can raze.

Is HexCrest free?

Yes. The full game is free in your browser with no ads and no account. The iPhone app is also free; it sells optional coin packs and a Crest Pack with extra skins, but every island and mode can be played without paying.

Do I need to download anything?

No. HexCrest runs in any modern browser on a computer, tablet or phone. An iPhone app is coming to the App Store for players who want haptics, Game Center and the Crest Pack.

Is HexCrest multiplayer?

Your rivals are computer players, so you can play any time without waiting for a lobby, and it keeps working on a weak connection. You compete with real people on the leaderboards: everyone gets the same Daily Island, and every score is checked by replaying the round.

How do I die in HexCrest?

You are out if a rival touches your trail, if you cross your own trail, if you lose a head-on bump, if a rival captures all your land, or if an enemy tower shoots your trail. Standing on your own land keeps you safe from trail cuts.
